Xiumin is the seventh member introduced by SM Entertainment to the public to fill the formation of the group EXO, on January 26, 2012. His real name is Kim Min Seok, born on March 26, 1990 in Gyeonggi-do, South Korea. In this EXO group, Xiumin occupies the position of vocalist and participates in the EXO-M and EXO-CBX sub units. Before joining EXO, Xiumin had pursued soccer and was even an honorary ambassador of the Korean Football Association.
Similar to Luhan, Xiumin also participated in the JYP Entertainment audition in 2008, but did not qualify. Later that year, Xiumin won second place in SM Everysing Content and was lined up as a trainee through SM System Casting. A year after EXO debuted, Xiumin modeled in singer Jin's (Lovelyz member) music video for the song "Gone".
In 2015, Xiumin debuted in the world of musical theater with his labelmates. A year later, Xiumin again debuted on the big screen with Yoo Seung Ho for a movie called Seondal: The Man Who Sells The River. Xiumin has also collaborated for a solo single with Jimin AOA with the song title "Call Your Bae". In 2019, Xiumin stated that he had enlisted in the military as an active duty soldier. Then on November 23, 2020, SM Entertainment confirmed that Xiumin was on leave after being discharged from the military base on December 6.
