Baekhyun is the ninth member introduced by SM Entertainment to the public on January 30, 2012. His real name is Byun Baek Hyun, born on May 6, 1992 in Gyeonggi, South Korea. In the EXO group, Baekhyun occupies the position of vocalist. Baekhyun is also a member of two EXO sub units, namely EXO-K and EXO-CBX. Not only that, Baekhyun and Kai also participated in the SuperM group and became leaders.
Baekhyun has been practicing since he was 11 years old and was inspired by singer Rain. During school, Baekhyun also joined the school band many times and became the main vocalist. He also practiced the martial art of Hapkido until he earned a black belt. SM Entertainment casting agents "discovered" Baekhyun when he was preparing to take the college entrance exam at the Seoul Institute of the Arts. Later, Baekhyun became an SM trainee since 2011 through the S.M. Casting System.
In 2014, two years after EXO debuted, Baekhyun was rumored to be dating his senior, Taeyeon SNSD. The rumors were eventually confirmed by SM Entertainment. Unfortunately, on September 15, 2015, the two reportedly broke up due to the busyness between the two. As with other EXO members, Baekhyun also enlisted in military service on April 2, 2021. The agency confirmed that he will work as a public service worker and get an exemption due to hypothyroidism that has been experienced since school.
One of his most famous collaborations was with Suzy for the song "Dream".
